Here are tonights selections:
5 Units Iowa -15 -103
Eastern Washington (2-3 SU, 2-3 ATS) of the Big Sky conference has a nice guard in 6’-2” senior Alvin Snow (17 ppg), who runs the backcourt with Josh Barnard (14 ppg). Up front Marc Axton (13 ppg) has All-Conference skills. Eastern Washington was 7-9 SU/9-7 ATS on the road a year ago and has played a good early season schedule. The Iowa Hawkeyes (4-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) have a dandy early season win over Louisville 70-69 last Saturday, when Pierre Pierce made the first of two free throws with 9.2 seconds left in overtime as Iowa won the opener of the John Wooden Tradition. Greg Brunner scored 26 points and Brody Boyd added 22 for the Hawkeyes. Eastern Washington has good shooting skills and has the size to make life miserable once league action begins. In the meantime, expect Iowa to enjoy some home cookin' on Friday!!!
5 Units Arkansas LR -5.5 -103
The Big Sky battles the Sun Belt here. The Idaho State Bengals (2-2) have a couple of easy cupcake wins, but got smashed by Rice and Tennessee Tech (87-62) away from home. They have a decent frontcourt with skinny 6’-7” senior Scott Henry (11 ppg), 6’-10” junior Jessee Smith along with senior guard Marques Poole (16 ppg). But they have been awful on the road and don't match up with a pretty good Arkansas Little Rock team (2-2). Little Rock has won two straight and lost 89-72 at Arizona State, though they got the cover. Little Rock has a talented veteran one-two punch in 6’-3” senior guard Nick Zachery (averaging 22 points per game) and 6’-9” senior Jamal Holden (14 ppg, 6 rpg). Little Rock gets the nod with their veteran talent that has played a tougher schedule.
Good luck tonight my friends,
